The 2011 K9 Cancer Walk in Elk Grove

Myself, my family, and my Boxer friends and their owners walked again in the 3rd Annual K9 Cancer Walk on Saturday in Elk Grove!  It was a beautiful day with LOTS of four legged companions supporting the cause.

This year everyone helped raise over $60,000 to Fight Canine Cancer!!!  All moneys collected go directly to Morris Animal Foundation's Canine Cancer Campaign to fund research toward a cure!

More than 29 teams participated in the Top Dogs Contest.  Top Dogs Contest winners are:

Top Team: Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue

Most Team Members: WAG, Inc. over 55 team members

Top Fundraiser: Teri Bennett, Homeward Bound Golden Retreiver Rescue

Most Spirit: Team Greyhound

Morris Animal Foundation and the Sacramento Volunteers are working hard to take the K9 Cancer Walk national. Their vision is to encourage and support other dog lovers to host a dog walk fundraiser in their home town to help raise much need funds for canine cancer research. Human Cancer Walks are a very successful way of rallying support and effectively raising money to fund research. In difficult financial times it is even more critical that we dog lovers step up and support research for early detection methods, effective treatments and ultimately a cure.

All donations and fees are tax deductable.
